CYBER GIRL CYAN

I wanted to illustrate the idea of the Internet being a “safe space” for kids in the early 2000’s. This is particularly prevalent for queer kids who live in conservative environments, as well as neurodivergent and mentally ill kids who struggle to interact with people and the world. I wanted to personify the Internet as an idol, a powerful and loving hero. Drawing inspiration from late 90’s and 2000’s anime and character designs, Cyber Girl Cyan exists to represent my idea of a goddess of the early Internet.
